The Santa Margherita Wine Group partners with Drinkout to instantly send wine lovers exciting new opportunities
The wine world can now improve its communication with wine lovers by sending them invitations, special offers and information on events in real time.
The Santa Margherita Wine Group has partnered with Drinkout – a beverage startup born in the H-Farm breeding ground in Treviso – to try out this new way to stay connected using beacon technology in its two retail stores in the Milan Stazione Centrale railway station: the “temporary shop” and Vyta Santa Margherita, the boulangerie-coffee and refreshments bar.
Beacons consist in Low Energy bluetooth devices capable of sending information to smartphones in the vicinity.
Thanks to this technology, wine lovers can receive invitations to tasting events and special offers reserved for them, or other exclusive information.
Not all smartphones will receive these alerts though: to benefit from this opportunity they need to download the Drinkout App, designed for Apple and Android operating systems.
«This experimental phase – explains Ettore Nicoletto, CEO of Santa Margherita – is not aimed at testing the potential of this technology but at finding out how wine lovers react to this opportunity. At the Stazione Centrale railway station in Milan we are using beacon technology in a context that goes beyond events focused specifically on wine and attended by a public that is geared towards accepting this type of information. Communication between the world of wine and new generations of wine lovers is growing by the day. These young people use social networks and the latest generation of electronic devices to search and exchange information and remain in constant contact with their passions.
