Recipes for the Whole Year



The 4th July, the day of American independence, is celebrated in the US with picnics and fireworks. The week's menu had to include some open-air dishes, with rolled sandwiches and that great American traditional dish, turkey.

   Salted bread with cheese
   and herbs

1 pack of frozen puff pastry - 200 g./7 oz. grated Emmenthal cheese - 2 tbsp. chopped sage - 2 eggs - 1/3 cup milk - 1/3 quart cream


Defrost pastry at room temperature, roll two sheets, place on top of each other and using rolling-pin roll into same size as oven plate; wet plate with some water and place pastry on it, punching with fork. In a bowl mix cheese, cream, milk, eggs and sage, to obtain a smooth mixture to spread on pastry. Heat oven to 200° and place plate with pastry on it in middle row; cook for 40 minutes, remove from oven, allow to cool, cut into rectangles and serve.

N.B. Ingredients are given for 4 portions.
