Our July itinerary is set amongst the undulating hills of Franciacorta, which
roll gently down to Lake Iseo. Here, surrounded by nature, the country landscapes
and the lake, you can savour the relaxation of fishing or the thrill of crossing
the water driven by the wind. But Franciacorta should also be savoured at
table: here the gastronomic tradition is lake fish accompanied by the white Terre
di Franciacorta wines and the Franciacorta DOCG sparkling wines. To sample the
different tastes, all you need to do is pass through the "Cancello Solare", a
creation by the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, which opens the gates to the cellars
of the Ca' del Bosco Winery at Erbusco
(for visits and wine tasting appointments phone 030-7766111). Vineyards,
hills and... pyramids The green of the vineyards, of the hills, but
also of the mountains surrounding the "Pyramids" of Zone, one of the most magnificent
natural wonders in the area. Lake flavours
We recommend tench, a fish traditionally eaten in the peasant cuisine with polenta;
trout, the queen of the lake; shad, a small but tasty fresh-water fish to be eaten
fried or "in carpione" (fried and soused, with herbs and onion). Fly
with the wind A board, a sail and off you go, borne by the wind,
to skip about Lake Iseo as the fancy takes you. A
train itinerary In summer the Basso Sebino railway is in service,
offering a tourist itinerary that will take you to some of the most beautiful
towns and villages on Lake Iseo.
