Snowlife, when the bright white snow takes over the highest mountain tops, giving
the landscapes a new shape: it's an unmistakable sign of a change of season, the
perception of which is now getting lost down in the "valley life". Snowlife in
Trentino-Alto Adige, a land including two territories: one is historically linked
to the ancient city of Trento; the other was included within Italian borders after
the First World War: the Sud Tirol, renamed Alto Adige, with Bolzano as its chief
town de facto. Two lands linked by a dash, which can be a symbol for union but
also for separation: although the two territories are in fact united, they have
different cultural and historical roots. Mountains are the thing that Trentino
and Alto Adige have in common; their peaks are among the most beautiful in Italy,
and they reach the top of their beauty in the Dolomites. The itinerary for January
runs along these mountains. Ski fans will have their opportunity to discover them
by climbing up to the highest tops, while the ones interested in ways of wine
rather than paths and ski slopes, will discover them by tracking cuisine and wine
traditions typical of Trentino-Alto Adige. You will find them, for example, in
the Kettmeir wine shop canteen
in Caldaro, a traditional wine producer since 1919 which offers a rich selection
of typical Altoatesinian and Trentinian wines. Cheers ! White
weeks When snow comes down, this land turns into the kingdom of ski,
cross-country race, snowboard, sledges. Here you can find the longest ski slopes
and an excellent organisation that always offers a perfect reception without affecting,
on the other hand, the beauty of the landscape or the local traditions. On
Messner's trail There's no reasonable ground challenging people to
conquer the highest tops, to attempt impossible enterprises, to dare the mountain.
Here's a virtual climbing on the trail of the most popular climber-explorer in
the world. Dinner's ready! There are in
Trentino-Alto Adige two different gastronomy traditions too, both tasty and nourishing,
made for mountain people. A trip into typical products and recipes from Trentino
and Tirolo.
