A vine type widely planted in Argentina but whose origins lie in France, where it is still grown today, albeit in modest quantities, on the Atlantic coast of Bordeaux (Médoc and Haut Médoc), in the Loire and in Cahors. Malbech is also present elsewhere, including Chile, Australia, South Africa and California, and has found a particularly suitable growing territory in Eastern Veneto.

Tasting notes
Deep, star-bright ruby red with breadth and persistence on a nose of red and black-skinned fruits over spiciness and a pleasing nuance of balsam. The palate gives stimulating, well-poised thrust, good structure and tannins before the aromatic finale closes with delightful freshness.

Serving suggestions
A great partner for particularly flavoursome dishes, such as tangy soups and pasta served with meat sauces. Ideal with meat-based main courses, especially if aromatic herbs or spicy sauces are involved.
