www.santamargherita.it: first place in “Cantine in web”

2009 has begun with an important accolade for Santa Margherita: first place in the annual chart of “Cantine in web” (“Wineries on the web”) drawn up by winenews.it, one of the most authoritative sites regarding Italian wine. Every year winenews.it analyses the Internet sites of over 2,500 wine producers. Santa Margherita, whose headquarters are at Fossalta di Portogruaro near Venice, had a rating of 5 “@” signs – the highest possible – and took the no.1 spot, really trouncing the competition.
www.santamargherita.it is a dynamic and innovative site both in terms of its content and graphics. It has been designed to interface and communicate in a particularly direct manner with the company’s clients, wine drinkers and all those surfers of the web who wish to get a glimpse of the world of Santa Margherita’s wines.
The site is easy and intuitive to browse: as well as more “institutional” sections relating to the company’s wines themselves, it offers interesting content that helps to spread knowledge and culture regarding wine and its relationship with food. But there are lots of other things, too: it lists events and meetings, as well as presenting other intriguing news items about food and wine and interviews with chefs, members of the wine trade and others.
Once again, one of the site’s major features is the (newly expanded) online course, which consists of 60 lessons divided up into 7 chapters, and is accessible to all surfers without having to register. This is a useful and user-friendly instrument for introducing an ever larger number of wine lovers to the world of high-quality Italian wines. It explains the various types of wine and the characteristics of different terroirs, as well as how to store wine correctly. It also gives helpful suggestions about how to match it with food, and interesting videos illustrate some of the more important details.
“Santa Margherita has demonstrated once again – comments Lorenzo Biscontin, the Group’s Marketing Director – that it is also a leader in the field of communication. Our restyling of the site is just the beginning of a large-scale strategy of using the web that we will develop during the course of the year. Our objective is to convey our vision of wine and winemaking so as to make an ever greater number of people aware of the delights of high-quality Italian wine”.
