The creation of great wine is as bold and romantic as the creation of great art.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio was created in the 1960's, when an economic boom
and a change in lifestyle was reflected in Italy's food and wine industries. Santa
Margherita's winemakers had a vision. They wanted to create a wine that would
satisfy the new habits and tastes of wine lovers. Using the same demanding
criteria used to make great French Champagne, Santa Margherita's winemakers produced
a new creation using only one grape variety, Pinot Grigio, grown in the famous
vineyards of the Alto Adige region. This extraordinary white wine revolutionized
how wine consumers viewed Italian white wines throughout the world. In the years
to come, Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio would be recognized as a true "classic."
To celebrate the creativity behind this benchmark wine, Santa Margherita gathered
young professional photographers, whose works represent a variety of artistic
expressions. They were asked to create their own individual interpretation of
this famous wine. Their works, shown in this collection, are Santa Margherita's
testimony that wine can light up the colors of the imagination.
